Copyright and DMCA Policy

Effective March 18, 2026Last updated March 18, 2026

Commentary may display repository, pull request, branch, and review material that originates on GitHub or other third-party systems. Those materials may be owned by repository owners, contributors, or other rights holders.

Commentary respects intellectual-property rights and responds to notices of alleged infringement in good faith.

How to report allegedly infringing content

If you believe content shown through Commentary infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to dmca@commentary.dev.

Please include enough information for Commentary to review the claim, such as:

  • your contact information and authority to act for the rights holder;
  • a description of the copyrighted work or rights allegedly infringed;
  • the specific Commentary URL and original repository or GitHub URL involved;
  • a statement that you believe the use is unauthorized; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that your notice is accurate.

How Commentary responds

Commentary may review the report, request additional details, disable access to allegedly infringing material, notify the affected user or repository source when appropriate, and take other steps required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights holders and the service.

Commentary may also consider whether the source material remains available on GitHub or whether the claim should be redirected to the original hosting provider as part of the response workflow.

Counter-notices

If Commentary removes or disables access to material in response to a copyright notice, the affected party may send a counter-notice where applicable law permits.

A valid counter-notice should identify the removed material, explain why the removal is disputed, and include the statements and consent language required by applicable law. Commentary may review a counter-notice before accepting or acting on it.

Ownership reminder

Repository and pull request content rendered through Commentary remains owned by the repository owner and contributors or other applicable rights holders.
